The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday said PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif should appear in person on April 22, warning that legal procedure would be adopted in case of not cooperating.

According to 24NewsHD, the NAB said precautionary measures, including social distancing, would be taken amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Sources say the NAB has summoned Shehbaz on April 22 with argument that they the probe into the assets beyond means case is in the final stage; therefore, the replies to the questions by him are urgently required.

Earlier, the Bureau had sent a notice to Shehbaz to appear in person on April 17 so that it could extract the answers to some important questions.

However, the PML-N president, who is also Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, didn’t visit the NAB office because of his health history and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

After his failure, the NAB had issued a statement, saying it did not had any intention to arrest him on April 17.

“Only comprehensive and detailed answers of a few questions were required. No magic can influence NAB; action is taken as per law and constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and in light of evidence.”

The statement called for avoiding politics, saying that the NAB was a national institute. “Its officers have no affiliation with any political party, group or group of individuals but it has allegiance only to the state of Pakistan.”
