Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Ghulam Ali Tuesday summoned Gomal University Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Iftikhar Ahmad to hear him personally, indicating a very strong likelihood that the forced leave of the VC would be terminated, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Former acting KP governor Mushtaq Ghani had sent VC Dr Iftikhar Ahmad on a forced leave for 90 days for the third time.
The VC had been sent on a forced leave after he refused to obey the orders of former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur, which he deemed unlawful.
It had also led to threats hurling at the VC and an aggressive campaign by some students against him.
Earlier, former PTI governor Shah Farman had tried to implement the plan of illegal distribution of the assets of Gomal University by sending the VC on 90-day leave twice.
However, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had stopped the illegal distribution of the university’s assets by issuing stay orders.
While extending his forced leave that was to end on December 19, the HEC has once again issued a notification for personal hearing of the VC.
Following that, the KP governor summoned VC Dr Iftikhar Ahmad for a personal hearing on Tuesday. The hearing panel will include five more members besides the governor. However, the decision will be taken solely by the governor.
