Barrister Ali Zafar on Tuesday continued arguing before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on behalf of PTI that the task of the commission is to check whether the elections have been held or not without going into details, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

He was wrapping up his arguments on petitions filed against the party’s elections held on Dec 2.

The petitions called the PTI intra-party elections “fraudulent and without legitimacy” and urged the ECP to declare them void.

Zafar, defending PTI's position, maintained that it has no legal standing to put the rules on the website. There are only twenty party websites.

Chief Election Commissioner Raja Sikander Sultan Chief Election asked, “Are Your party special?”.

Responding to queries about the appointment of Umar Ayub as chief election commissioner, Zafar asserted that the necessity to conduct elections prompted the appointment.

Zafar clarified that the results were submitted to the Election Commission on December 4, although the ECP had requested the signing of the report a day earlier on December 3, a directive PTI promptly fulfilled. He questioned whether this procedural compliance could be a reason to withhold the election symbol for PTI.

During the intra-party election process, Zafar highlighted the adherence to nomination papers and polling schedules.

When questioned about the appointment of an ad hoc election commissioner, Zafar confirmed the appointment for conducting the elections.

As the Election Commission issues the election schedule, Barrister Ali Zafar implored an early decision, seeking a swift resolution to the intricate legal battle surrounding PTI's intra-party elections.
