Police seize foreign-made weapons in Parachinar

The Pewar police have foiled an attempt to smuggle a large number of foreign-made weapons in Parachinar, a town in the Kurram District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.


The police intercepted a Vigo pick-up vehicle near the Dagu check post on the Pewar Teri Mangal main road and recovered a huge consignment of arms from it.


The police arrested the driver of the vehicle, identified as Hamidullah son of Hakeem Jan, a resident of Kotri Mangalhal Tandoori Sada. He is accused of smuggling arms from Teri Mangal to Lower Karam Sada and different areas of the district.


The weapons seized by the police include two dismantled and one incompletely dismantled M-16A4 rifles, nine M-16A4 barrels, six M4 barrels, five M-16 machine gun barrels, three M-16 front grips, two M-4 bolts, one incomplete MM7 .62HMG, 5323 SMG cartridges, 2210 M-4 cartridges, 1000 MG-1A-3 cartridges and 11 M-4 magazines.


The operation was conducted on secret information under the supervision of DSP Circle Mazhar Ali, Piwar police station SHO Wajid Ali, ASHO Jalil Hussain and Mumtaz Hussain along with other police personnel.


A case under 15AA/17AA has been registered against the detained arms smuggler in Pewar police station and he has confessed to his crime during the initial interrogation. The police have handed him over to the investigation team for further investigation.
