The District Monitoring Officer (DMO) Mardan has fined an independent election candidate for violating code of conduct and installing billboards larger than the prescribed size, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.


Zulfiqar Khan, an independent candidate for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from PK-58 Mardan, was fined Rs25,000 for displaying oversized billboards.


In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Mardan is instructed to collect the fine and deposit it in the government treasury and submit the challan.


The candidate was issued a notice on January 16 and directed to appear on January 17.


However, candidate or any representative on his behalf did not appear for clarification so far on which District Monitoring Officer while taking action fined the candidate.


PPP candidate crowned in Nawabshah


The nominated candidate of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) from Nawabshah was crowned by wearing a gold crown worth hundreds of thousands rupees during the election campaign.


Nominated candidate from NA-208 Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah was crowned with gold by businessman Gobind Ram during the election campaign.


Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah has been elected Member of National Assembly four times from Constituency NA 208.


Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah is the nominated candidate of Pakistan People’s Party from NA-208 Constituency for the fifth time.
