Thousands gather to witness historic wedding of penniless blind man in Algeria

A wedding like no other unfolded in the North African nation as thousands of people flocked to witness the union of a penniless blind man, Shams al-Din, also known as Moka. Hailing from the impoverished province of Khenchela, Moka's humble plea for attendees turned into a remarkable celebration that captured the hearts of Algerians and beyond.

Moka's journey began when he accompanied his mother to a tailor, sharing his desire to bring happiness to his future wife and mother through his marriage. Not only did Algerians show up in large numbers to attend the wedding, but individuals from neighbouring countries such as Tunisia and Libya also made their way to the festivities. The streets were filled with a caravan of over 2,000 people in cars, more than 100 individuals on motorcycles, and around 50 on horseback. The total number of attendees surpassed 10,000, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity.

In addition to the overwhelming show of support, numerous music bands joined the celebration, filling the air with melodies that echoed through the streets. People danced with exuberance, expressing their jubilation and sharing in the couple's happiness. The groom, Moka, was lifted onto the shoulders of friends and family, as they joyfully carried him to his bride's house.

Notably, the bride and groom were also presented with honeymoon tickets to Turkey and Tunisia, adding an extra touch of magic and enchantment to their journey of love.
