Govt apologizes for delay in fixing Covid-19 vaccine prices

The federal government has tendered its apology in the Sindh High Court for committing a delay in the determination of Covid-19 vaccines prices, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Reportedly, the secretary health service and the secretary cabinet division tendered their unconditional apology on the federal government’s behalf for a delay in the devising of an import policy for Covid-19 vaccines and the determination of their sale price.  

The assistant attorney general told the court on Thursday that the federal government had issued the notification regarding the fixing of vaccine prices.

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) lawyer said the pharma company had sold the vaccines at exorbitant prices and pleaded to retrieve the overcharged money from the company. 

The pharma company lawyer, however, prayed for extra time for submission of the response from the company. 

The DRAP lawyer had requested the court to link the further import of the vaccine with the court order.

The pharma company lawyer informed the court that the company was not importing any vaccine for now. 

The court ordered the assistant attorney general to submit a report signed by the concerned authority to the court. 

The court has adjourned the case till Aug 17.
