Justice ® Shamim violated Article 5, petition filed in IHC

A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Supreme Court Rana Shamim for taking action against him on the basis of perjury and withdrawal of privileges as a judge.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the petition was filed by an Islamabad based lawyer Chaudhry Muhammad Akram in Court on Saturday.
Justice ® Rana Shamim, Secretary Law, Home Secretary and former Chief Justice Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Court has been made a party in the petition.
The petition stated that Rana Shamim violated his oath as a former judge by giving an affidavit and violated Article 5 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
Rana Shamim's false affidavit is not only defaming the High Court but also creating hatred among the people against the judiciary and the state, the petition said.
The privileges granted to Rana Shamim as a judge should be withdrawn and deposited in the national treasury, the petition said adding demand of action against him from the Interior Ministry.
