NA, PA Speakers remind ECP after new legislation, SC order in reserved seats case not applicable

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said on Thursday that after the constitutional amendment there exists no chance of implementation of the Supreme Court's (SC) verdict in reserved seats, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
NA Speaker Sadiq in a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said,"The Election Act has been enacted following the SC verdict on August 7 and has come into effect following the signature of the president."
The NA speaker said: “after the new legislation, the lawmakers who will become part of any of the political parties, their affiliation cannot be changed. The apex court's verdict was in line with the act in the past."
He urged ECP to implement the law made by the parliament, keeping in view the supremacy of the parliament and democracy.
NA Speaker that It is the constitutional duty of the ECP to respect the law made by the parliament.
Meanwhile, after the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly has also written a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan and requested that reserved seats case should be decided keeping in mind the autonomy of the Punjab Assembly.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan said the amended Election Act is in force therefore it is important to maintain the integrity and independence of the parliamentary system.
He urged the Election Commission that it is a legal obligation to respect the legislation of Parliament.
