83rd death anniversary of Allama Iqbal observed

The 83rd death anniversary of founding father figure of Pakistan and Poet of East Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal was commemorated Wednesday to pay homage to his selfless services for the Muslims of the Sub-continent, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Allama Iqbal presented the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Sub-continent.

He was born on 9 November 1877 and breathed his last on 21 April 1938.

Sir Muhammad Allama Iqbal presented his political ideas in a series of lectures he delivered to this effect were published as ‘The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam’.

He was the great leader of All India Muslim League (ALML) who envisioned in his 1930 presidential address in Allahabad for a separate homeland for Muslims from then British-ruled India.

Allama Iqbal’s equally famous in Urdu and Persian speaking world for his poetic works. In Iran, where he is known as Iqbāl-e Lāhorī (Iqbal of Lahore).

After the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Allama was named the national poet.
