Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has departed to Rahim Yar Khan to raise the spirits of police officials taking part in Katcha operation against bandits, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday. 

Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar and other concerned officials briefed the chief minister about the ongoing operation against dacoits in the riverine area of Punjab. 

Provincial Information Minister Amir Mir also attended the briefing. 

Mr Naqvi expressed his satisfaction over the police successes against the criminals during the current operation. He vowed to take the operation against bandits to its logical conclusion.

Katcha operation enters 13th day 

Meanwhile, today is the 13th day of the grand operation against the criminals in the Katcha area of Sadiqabad. 

The dacoits launched an attack on police with rocket launchers and long-range weapons in Katcha area of Rijwani.

However, the police retaliated forcefully, making dacoits to retreat. 

An armoured personnel carrier of police was slightly damaged during the attack by the criminals. 

According to the police spokesperson, the law personnel have laid a siege to 18-20 dangerous criminals and militants belonging to Sikhani and Lathani gangs in the riverine area of Rijwani. 

He said that katcha areas of Moro and Jamal have been cleared. He said last year, police suffered casualties during operation in these areas but now the areas have been cleared without any loss. 

He informed that so far the police arrested 20 dacoits and killed another three in Sadiqabad katcha operation which has entered the day 13th. 

The spokesperson said that police have cleared an area stretching on thousands of acres of criminal elements. He said that with a good anti-bandit strategy adopted by police, the resistance of Sikhani group has started diminishing now.
