The Punjab government is all set to tighten the noose around profiteers dealing in construction materials, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
After the 18th amendment, the Punjab government enacted a separate laws against profiteers and hoarders in which most of the amendments have been made.
The Punjab government will now take action against those who sell expensive construction materials under the Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act.
Under the amended act, construction materials will be sold at the rates fixed by the government and the admin will only control the rising prices of cement and bricks.
Contrary to government rates, the sale of construction materials will be fined Rs 100,000 and imprisoned for up to three years.
Under the newly amended Act, the chief minister will be the chairman of the Punjab Price Control Council.
