Bitter cold grips country as temperature in Skardu drops to -12 degrees Celsius
Minimum temperature in Gilgit recorded at -8, in Astore, Quetta and Kalat -6, Islamabad 0 degrees Celsius

Most parts of the country are in the grip of extreme cold these days as the minimum temperature in Skardu dropped to -12 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Similarly, it was -8 degrees Celsius in Gilgit, -6 degrees Celsius in Astore, Quetta and Kalat, -5 degrees Celsius in Dir, 0 degrees Celsius in Islamabad, 5 degrees Celsius in Lahore and 12 degrees Celsius in Karachi.
On the other hand, fog resulted in the closure of different sections of the motorway in Punjab.
M-4, from Shorkot to Kot Abdul Hakim, was closed for all types of traffic after visibility was reduced to 20 meters only.
Lahore ranked as world’s third most polluted city
Meanwhile, Lahore emerged as the world’s third most polluted city on Saturday as the AQI in the Punjab capital was recorded at 227.
The AQI over the US consulate stood at 533, over Johar Town at 503, over Chatta Park at 395, over Phase-8, DHA at 375 and over Askari-10 at 331.
Met Office predicts rain for Lahore, other parts of country
Certainly, good news for the people of Lahore as the Met Office has said that winds from the northwesterly direction will enter the upper parts of the country on December 22, which could result in rain in these areas, including the provincial capital.
Presently, the weather in the city is cold.
The Met Office said that the maximum temperature in the city would be recorded at 19 degrees Celsius, while it would remain seven degrees Celsius on the minimum side.
