An attempt to smuggle mobile phones from Jinnah International Airport Karachi was foiled by Custom Intelligence, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.


According to spokesman, action was taken on the confirmed information provided by the Intelligence Agency.


Shehroz and Sohail Amin, two passengers who arrived in Karachi by FlyDubai flight FZ-329 were checked. Mobile phones were recovered from the possession of passengers during checking.


Both the passengers were monitored from the arrival of the plane from the satellite area to the retrieval of the baggage.


The Customs personnel stationed at the Green Channel directed the two passengers to the Customs Red Channel.


Their belongings were scanned, in which, a large number of mobile phones were identified.


Mobile phones hidden in their hand carry bags were recovered in the presence of the passengers.


Both persons' bodies and belongings were thoroughly searched. As a result, additional mobile phones were recovered.


According to description of discovered items include 28 iPhone, two HP laptops, 50 embroidered cotton suits and 40 bottles of 500mm of prime water drink were recovered.


The total value of exported goods is around Rs6.45 million. However, the recovered goods have been confiscated.


A case has been registered against the passengers under the Customs Act and First Information Report (FIR) has been filed. Further investigation is going on.
