Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry reiterating his demand to disband Ruet-i-Hilal Committee has said that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on May 24 (Sunday).
He said he will address a news conference on Friday and will explain why Ruet-i-Hilal Committee would not want to celebrate Eid on Sunday instead of Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Fawad Chaudhry claimed that the experts believed Eidul Fitr will fall on May 24. Fawad, while talking to overseas journalists in Islamabad, criticised the clerics once again regarding the moon-sighting techniques. He said that Mufti Muneebur Rehman and Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai are standing on different paths.
He censured that moon will not change its orbit over anyone’s opinion. The minister claimed that there was no practical importance of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee anymore in Pakistan.
“NASA had announced to send a mission to stay on the moon for a long period. In future, the clerics will see a challenge for how to celebrate the Eid festival on the moon.”
As the Eid approaches the people have paced up their shopping in the markets after the Supreme Court of Pakistan allowed the opening of shopping malls and smaller shops round the clock.
However, the authorities wanted to ensure that the people follow the practice of physical distancing and wear masks and constantly reminding the public to adhere to health protocols.
