Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Friday announced to pay back all extra charges received from foreign travellers in the head of mobile duties and taxes.

According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, the FBR collected some extra money on mobiles by the reason of a technical fault in the WeBOC system.

As per the rules of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), foreign travellers could register five mobile phones at a time on their passports or national identity card.

The payment of customs duty and taxes on every phone having worth more than US$500 was just Rs9,000 only that could be paid by the foreign passengers through their passports or ID card registration.

Due to some technical faults in the WeBOC system, the concession of the Withholding Tax was ended so the foreign passengers paid around Rs36720 per phone in the head of Customs Duty.

The FBR official announced to resolve the technical issue within a short time of one day as their team was analyzing it and then all extra charges to be refunded the foreign travellers.

The FBR also apologized for the inconvenience caused to them.
