PTI leaders Yasmin Rashid and Ijaz Chaudhry indicted in May 9 violence case

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has indicted senior PTI leaders Dr Yasmin Rashid and Ijaz Chaudhry for torching police vehicles in front of Rahat Bakery during May 9 violence, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The ATC judge adjourned the hearing of the case until December 16 after announcing the indictment. Both the leaders, however, pleaded not guilty.
The court also unveiled the charge-sheet against another PTI leader Rabini Jamil.
The court also summoned prosecution’s witnesses to record their statements.
It may be mentioned here that the Dr Yasmin Rashid along with Omar Sarfaraz Cheema had now also been arrested on a fresh case pertaining to attacking the Prime Minister’s House in Lahore.
PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif was premier during the time of the May 9 violence, and his Model Town residence was designated the Prime Minister’s House.
Yasmin and Cheema were presented before an anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Monday and later sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9 in the Al-Qadir Trust case had resulted in widespread violence and saw important military installations come under attack, on the basis of which the authorities had launched a severe crackdown against his party.
