The Karachi Traders Association (KTA) has called for the suspension of the "Trader-Friendly Scheme" for one year, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Sunday.
According to the report, the President of the Association, Javed Shams, emphasised the need to simplify the tax culture in Pakistan.
He proposed that new tax filers should be exempt from tax scrutiny for five years to encourage compliance.
This demand came in response to suggestions made by the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) during his address to industrialists and traders at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
Javed Shams further welcomed the reduction in interest rates but reiterated the need to make the tax system easier for businesses.
