National Assembly Secretariat issues new party position in house

The party position in the National Assembly changed after the letter written by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the Election Amendment Act which wiped out existence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-from the lower house of the parliament, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.


In this regard, the National Assembly Secretariat has issued a new party position according to which 80 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have been declared members of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) as earlier 39 members were declared belonged to PTI and 41 as independent.


At present, the number of members of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) on the government benches in the National Assembly is 110 and the second is the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), which has 69 seats while Sunni Ittehad Council has 80, MQM 22 and JUI-F has eight members.


Moreover, in the National Assembly, PML-Q has 5 seats, IPP has 4 seats, PK MAP, BNP Mengal and MWM have one seat each. The number of independent members supported by PTI is 8 while one independent member has joined PML-N.


In the new party position, the seats withdrawn from PML-N, PPP and JUI have also been mentioned. In case of implementation of the Election Act, the three parties will get 23 reserved seats.


According to the National Assembly Secretariat, out of 23 reserved seats, PML-N will get 15 seats and PPP will get 5 seats while JUI will get three reserved seats.
