Punjab University’s Vice Chancellor Dr Asghar Zaidi has inaugurated Miyawaki Forest project at the Punjab University, where 7,000 saplings on two acres of land have already been planted, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday. 

Registrar Raja Shahid Javed, RO One Colonel Umar Khalid (RTD), RO Two Jalil Tariq, Students Affairs Director Dr Sajid Rashid and other officers and students participated in the initiative.

Speaking on the occasion of the forest's inauguration, the VC said that Panjab University will also have Miyawaki forest and fruitful and flowering plants are being planted in Miyawaki forest. 

He noted that Miywaki forest is a reservoir of oxygen and it will be a new city for many birds. 

He added that university is going to provide environment friendly environment to students, teachers and employees through this initiative.
