Govt to tighten noose around property tax defaulters

The government has decided to launch a crackdown on property tax defaulters, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The property tax defaulters have been warned of seizure of their vehicles, auction of their properties, and issuance of their arrest warrants.

“Collection of billions of rupees from tax defaulters are pending across Punjab for the past several years,” said an official letter.

All the excise directors across Punjab have been directed to initiate a special recovery campaign against the defaulters.

“Every penny of the government will be recovered using all legal means,” the letter emphasised.

DG Excise Muhammad Ali has established a special cell in the Directorate General for collection of pending dues.

The excise officials have been directed to send daily report on all the property tax defaulters from across Punjab.
