ECP cancels notification for putting off polls in two Sargodha constituencies

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday cancelled the notification issued by the returning officer (RO) for postponing elections for the National Assembly (NA) seats NA-83 and NA-85, Sargodha, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja ordered holding elections in these constituencies as per the schedule.
The RO had postponed elections in these constituencies after the demise of a candidate.
CEC orders action against polling staff remaining absent during training
On the other hand, the ECP, while taking notice of reports of the polling staff and their instructors remaining absent during the former’s training for the elections has decided to take disciplinary action these individuals.
According to the spokesman for the ECP, instructions have been issued by the CEC to all chief secretaries and provincial election commissioners to ensure the presence of the staff as well as their instructors during the training sessions, and in case any trainee or trainer fails to show up, he or she should be suspended forthwith.
The spokesman has further said that the chief election commissioner has made it clear that no leniency will be tolerated in this regard.
