Civil, military top brass mull over investment facilitation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of the Apex Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
Army Chief General Asim Munir, provincial chief ministers, ministers, and civil and military officials attended the meeting.
The committee expressed satisfaction with SIFC's performance and strategy to reach out to potential investors through holding seminars and inaugurating projects.
It reviewed various schemes prepared by the SIFC.
The prime minister approved projects to seek investment from friendly countries in the fields of agriculture, livestock, minerals, mining, IT and energy.
He directed authorities concerned to provide the interested investors with full facilities.
The coalition government set up the SIFC to attract foreign investment with a mandate to frame economic policies that ensure policy predictability, continuity and effective implementation to revive the economy.
Attracting investment from friendly countries remains one of the key goals of the SIFC, Shehbaz said as he made the announcement to set up the body.
