Ex-Mirpur commissioner who came to Lahore to attend Nawaz’s welcome rally dies in road mishap

Former Mirpur commissioner Dr Mehmoodul Hassan was killed while four others were seriously wounded when a car they were travelling in fell into a deep ditch while negotiating a turn at Khaliqabad near Mirpur on its way back from PML-N’s rally at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore late Saturday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The injured and the dead were shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

According to reports, four people, all PML-N workers, belonging to Kotli Azad Kashmir were sitting in the car.

Former prime minister and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif expressed his grief over the tragic death of PML-N activist Dr Mehmoodul Hassan Raja in a road accident.

Taking to his X handle, Shehbaz Sharif tweeted: Pakistan Muslim League’s (N) activist from Kotli, Azad Kashmir, and former assembly candidate Dr. Mehmoodul Hassan Raja died in an accident near Mirpur on his return from Lahore after attending a rally to welcome Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. It is very sad. His love, sincerity and sacrifices are unforgettable. I offer my heartfelt condolences to all the family members and relatives of Dr. Mahmoodul Hassan, including his son Fateh Mahmood. May Allah grant the deceased a place in His mercy and give the family the courage and strength to bear this loss. Amen.”
