PPP Central Punjab General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza said on Saturday that the party welcomed former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif back to Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He, however, expressed the hope that former prime minister during his address at Greater Iqbal Park on October 21 would demand the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to give date for general elections. “However, during media talk at Dubai airport, he fell short of making any such demand,” Murtaza said, and added, “Nawaz is the chief of one of the country’s largest political parties. He should not have behaved like the ECP’s spokesman.”
If the former prime minister, he went on to say, had demanded election date, he would have represented people’s feelings and aspirations.
PPP leader said whenever the PML-N supremo went abroad as part of a deal, it was the PPP that negotiated his return to the country.
