Pakistan’s information technology (IT) sector continues to make significant strides, emerging as the most vital contributor to the country’s services exports, according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The IT sector accounted for 44% of services exports, with IT exports witnessing a 42% year-on-year growth in September 2024, reaching $292 million. This marks a significant increase from $206 million recorded in the same month last year.
In the first quarter of FY25, IT exports grew by 34%, amounting to $876 million. However, on a month-on-month basis, IT exports saw a marginal decline of 2%, down from $298 million in August 2024. Despite this, the sector remains a key driver of Pakistan’s export growth.
This robust performance highlights Pakistan's growing presence in the global IT market.
