National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq has sent another letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan, requesting the disqualification of Adil Khan Bazai, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) following his absence from the assembly session.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the letter called for Bazai’s seat to be declared vacant after he failed to cast his vote during a crucial constitutional amendment session.
The sources said former prime minister and PML-N president, Nawaz Sharif, had earlier sent a formal reference against Bazai to the speaker, following his absence from the assembly session.
Bazai, who was expected to vote in favor of the 26th amendment, not only missed the session but also abstained from voting, sparking outrage within party ranks.
The controversy deepened as Bazai had initially joined PML-N but later defected to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
His shifting loyalties have raised questions about his commitment to PML-N’s political agenda, further fueling the demand for his immediate disqualification.
National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq, in his letter, reiterated the urgency of the matter and called on the Election Commission to take swift action by de-seating Bazai.
