DIG, SSP Mirpurkhas suspended for extrajudicial killing

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has suspended two high-ranked police officers including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on the charges of extrajudicial murder, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The suspended officers are DIG Mirpurkhas Javed Sonharu Jaskani and SSP Mirpurkhas Captain (retd) Mohammad Asad Ali Chaudhary.
Both the suspended officers have been ordered to report to the Central Police Office (CPO)
The two officers were accused of killing Dr Shahnawaz Kanbhar extrajudicially.
According to an official notification issued by the chief secretary, the chief minister has himself taken the action and suspended the two police officers.
Sindh Home Minister Zia Hassan Lanjar confirmed that the SSP of the CIA and the relevant Station House Officer (SHO) had already been suspended prior to this action.
"The Sindh government believes in the rule of law," Lanjar stated, emphasising that there was no hesitation in taking action against officials.
He added that a formal letter has been sent to the Establishment Division for further action against the DIG and SSP, reinforcing the government's commitment to upholding justice and accountability.
