In an alarming development, 27 people belonging to two different families were tested positive for coronavirus in Lahore, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

One of these families lived in the Farrukhabad area of Shahdara as the district administration asked police to seal locality.

The 17 family members – six women, six men and five children – were shifted to Mayo Hospital after they were found to be infected.

Similarly, an entire street in Sector D-1 of Township was sealed after ten members of a family were tested positive for the coronavirus.

According to reports, the women were admitted in the Mayo Hospital while the male family members had been shifted to the makeshift field hospital established at Expo Centre in Johar Town.

Earlier, it was reported that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the provincial capital had reached 772 while the reported deaths stood at 27.

On the other hand, the police were deployed in Khaskheli Mohalla of Hyderabad where ten family members tested positive for the virus.

A medical team reached the locality as the officials said the virus had been found in an official working at CIA Centre, adding that his family members were tested afterwards, revealing that they had also been infected.

The people having contact with the affected family would also be tested, they added.

According to the area SHO, the Khaskheli Mohalla has a population of around 400 and many of them had left their homes.

However, the medical team says they have surveyed 20 houses but the locals are not cooperating with them.
