Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday postponed the hearing for a petition filed against the detention of Pervez Elahi for an indefinite period of time, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
LHC indefinitely postponed the hearing for the application against Pervez Elahi’s detention filed by his wife Qaisara Elahi over the ineffectiveness of the petition. The Assistant Advocate General appeared in the hearing on behalf of the Punjab Government and the hearing was carried out by Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan.
Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan said that the petition has become ineffective. The petitioner’s counsel Farman Ali said that his client Pervez Elahi was kept in custody illegally for a day, to which, the judge said that he should refer to the relevant forum.
Farman Ali said that a report from the jail authorities was demanded in the last hearing. The Lawyer representing the Punjab government handed one copy of the report to the court and the other to the petitioner’s lawyer.
Justice Muhammad Waheed said that the case will be re-listed and Farman Ali said asked the court to fix the case in any bench after the holidays.
Additional Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, IG Punjab and others have been made parties in the petition.
