Punjab CM calls for expediting rescue, relief operation in flood-hit areas

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has directed to speed up rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas while taking all possible measures to protect people’s lives, reported 24NewsHD TV on Tuesday.
He issued these directions during his aerial visit of the flooded areas of Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Arifwala and other places near River Sutlej which is in high flood.
Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and IG Police Dr Usman Anwar were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Naqvi gave necessary instructions to the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police regarding relief activities in the affected villages with the help of the map.
He further directed that necessary resources should be utilized to strengthen the protective walls.
The Chief Minister conducted an aerial inspection of the submerged settlements the evacuation of the affected population.
Punjab govt imposes Section 144 for 3 months
Meanwhile, the Punjab government Tuesday imposed Section 144 across the province for a period of three months.
This was disclosed by interim Provincial Minister for Information and Broadcasting Amir Mir in his tweet saying that Section 144 has been imposed till November 18 in Punjab.
