Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed further deliberation on proposals to merge the Ministry of Commerce and the Board of Investment with the Ministry of Industries and Production, reported 24NewsHd TV channel on Friday.

According to sources, the PM has given a committee two months to thoroughly examine these proposals.

In a bid to streamline government functions and improve efficiency, Shehbaz Sharif instructed the Ministry of Industries and Production, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Board of Investment to take the necessary steps towards this potential merger, sources indicate.

The proposal under consideration suggests that the Ministry of Commerce be absorbed into the Ministry of Industries and Production.

Similarly, it has been proposed that the Board of Investment also be merged into the Ministry of Industries and Production.

The committee responsible for this task now has two months to provide detailed recommendations on the feasibility and potential impacts of these mergers.
