Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers who had turned themselves into police in Lahore on the first day of ‘Jail Bharo’ movement yesterday, have been shifted to jails in the far-flung areas of Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

As many as 24 PTI leaders and workers have been shifted to District Jail Layyah; 24 to District Jail Bhakkar and 25 to Rajanpur Jail.

Besides that Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been shifted to Attock Jail; Azam Swati to Rahim Yar Khan jail; Murad Raas to Dera Ghazi Khan jail; Senator Walid Iqbal to District Jail Layyah; Umar Sarfaraz Cheema to District Jail Bhakkar; Muhammad Madni to Bahawalpur jail while Asif Umar to Rajanpur jail.

Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday granted pre-arrest bail to PTI leader Zubair Khan Niazi until March 2 in lieu of a surety bond of Rs0.1 million.

Civil Lines Police Station had registered a case against Niazi and others for resorting to vandalism and causing damage to public properties and violating section 144 on the first day of PTI’s ‘Jail Bharo’ movement.

In yet another surprising development, PTI workers, who had held a sit-in outside Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail last night, have disappeared.
