Aptma urges government to implement 9 cents electricity tariff for industries

The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has appealed to the government to implement the decision of the Special Industrial Facilitation Committee (SIFC) to fix the electricity tariff for industries at 9 cents per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

The SIFC, headed by the finance minister, had approved the removal of cross-subsidy for industries in December 2023.

Aptma said that the government should implement its decision on an emergency basis, as it would give the industries a chance to compete in the global market. According to Aptma, the implementation of the 9 cents tariff would also increase the consumption of electricity in industries, reduce the burden of circular debt, and help the economy recover.
