Following the PML-N, the PPP, too, on Tuesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC), praying it to review its July 12 decision in which it gave reserved seats to the PTI, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Making the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and others respondents, the party in its petition, filed by Farooq H. Naek, argued that the apex court judges, while giving a verdict in the case, did not properly look at the facts.

“It was the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), and not the PTI, which had demanded the reserved seats. But the court instead gave these seats to the PTI,” read the petition.

The party prayed to the court to take its decision back.

A 13-member full-court bench of the SC, on July 12, surprised all and sundry when it declared the PTI eligible for its share of reserved seats in the national and provincial assemblies, thus dealing a severe blow to the coalition government at Center which was way ahead of the PTI in the parliament in terms of its numerical strength.

The case was filed by the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), a political party that PTI-backed candidates had joined after the February 8 general elections.
