Canal breach floods standing crops in Layyah

A 40-feet wide breach occurred in Dad Canal near Rafiqabad in Layyah on Sunday, inundating standing crops on several acres, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Details indicate that the water also inundated nearby settlements and damaged mud houses posing threat to the locals.
According to Irrigation Department, the water supply was suspended from the headworks on the report of the breach and an operation was being carried out to plug the breach.
