Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday tasked the authorities concerned with turning Manawan Hospital, Lahore into a cancer hospital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
While chairing a meeting in the committee room of Manawan Hospital, the chief minister gave in principle the approval for building a cancer hospital and sought a plan in this regard.
He also inspected the Manawan Hospital building and the proposed land for building the cancer hospital. He also inspected the building adjacent to the main building of Manawan Hospital.
“Punjab is a province of 140 million people, but not even a single state-of-the-art public cancer hospital is there,” Mohsen Naqvi said while chairing the meeting.
“A state-of-the-art public cancer hospital is the need of the people of Punjab. It is the responsibility of the government to provide state-of-the-art public hospitals,” he emphasised.
The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to finalise the design of the cancer hospital and other issues soon.
“The purchase of machinery and other equipment should also be planned,” he added.
