Quetta Gladiators Head Coach Moin Khan expressed confidence in his side’s performance as the tournament heats up, stating that preparations are going well and the squad is starting to click into gear.
Speaking at a press conference Thursday, Moin welcomed New Zealand's Mark Chapman to the team, hoping his inclusion would further boost the Gladiators' momentum.
“Chapman’s arrival is a positive step — he brings in international experience, and we expect him to strengthen our lineup,” Moin said.
He praised the squad’s composition, especially highlighting the contributions of the younger players. “We have some excellent talent this year. The young guns are performing well, and that’s a great sign not just for Quetta but for Pakistan cricket overall,” he noted.
Moin shared that all previously unwell players had now recovered, and the team was back to full fitness. He also emphasized the importance of seasoned campaigners like Mohammad Amir, whose vast experience, he said, would be “invaluable” in high-pressure games.
Commenting on Hassan Nawaz, Moin remarked, “The boy has his own unique technique. If we back him and give him a winning opportunity, he has the potential to shine bright.”
The coach also welcomed the potential expansion of the league, with two new teams possibly being added in future editions. “That’s a great move — more teams mean more chances for emerging talent to showcase their skills,” he said.
On bowling concerns, Moin confirmed that Usman Tariq was in contact with the PCB and was scheduled for a bowling test this week.
Highlighting the team’s blend of youth and experience, Moin said, “The average age in our team is around 30, which is perfect. At this stage, players are at their physical and mental peak.”
He also lauded the presence of Shoaib Malik, describing him as a steadying influence. “His experience is a huge plus for us — he’s been a game-changer in multiple matches.”
When asked about match strategy in Lahore’s conditions, Moin said the batting order would adapt based on the pitch and weather, adding that consultation with assistant coach Dave would help fine-tune those decisions.
