A security guard turned out to be the mastermind of bank robbery in Karachi’s Tipu Sultan area, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The security guard hatched the robbery plan with his accomplices and looted a man when he was on his way to office after withdrawing 50 million rupees from the bank.
The incident took place on November 16 in the garage of a private company's office in PECH Society Block 6, when Imtiaz Ahmed, the company's owner, withdrew money at the private bank's FTC branch.
According to SSP East Abdul Rahim Sherzai, security supervisor Khawar Khan was detained and interrogated on being suspicious.
He confessed to his crime during interrogation and also named his accomplices, the police officer added.
SHO police station Uzma Khan told the media that Khawar Khan wass the security supervisor of the same bank from where the money was withdrawn and he alerted his gang about the sizeable amount of money withdrew by the company owner.
Following that, accused Shakir alias Shahid and two others riding two motorcycles had committed the robbery by chasing the owner from the bank and snatching the millions on gunpoint.
During the interrogation, it was learnt that main accused Shakir alias Shahid Landhi, involved in the robbery, belongs to a political party.
Further details revealed that accused Khawar Khan was a hardened criminal who had previously been arrested for similar crimes.
The Tipu Sultan Police tracked down and apprehended the guard’s accomplices after collecting evidence with the help of modern technology and electronic connections.
