Caretaker Info Minister reaffirms commitment to constitutional process and democracy

The Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Murtaza Solangi Saturday said the caretaker government is a product of the constitutional process and the future of the country is related to the constitution and democracy.

In a conversation with journalists, he said that there is no scope in the constitution to extend the caretaker government's term and that only the Election Commission of Pakistan has the authority to give, change and extend the date of elections.

He also reiterated that the Election Commission has clearly announced that the elections will be held on February 8, 2024 and that there has been no change in the date of the elections.

He urged everyone to respect the constitutional mandate and not to have any doubt in this regard.

He said that in the preamble of the Constitution of Pakistan, it is written that this country will be run by its elected representatives and that the caretaker government is only facilitating the smooth transition of power.
