Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Brig (r) Ijaz Shah on Sunday said the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has no role in the Broadsheet case and the opposition’s criticism of the investigative committee is out of question, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Ijaz Shah said even the opposition themselves asked for the probe into the Broadsheet issue and now are criticizing the probe committee set up by the government to dig out the reality into the 20-year old scandal.
“The opposition will criticize any probe committee the government will set up,” he said while talking to media persons in Nankana Sahib, his constituency and hometown.
He defended the government's payment to the Broadsheet Company as non-payment was causing thousands of pounds fine each day.
Ijaz Shah said he met Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed to launch a joint crackdown against drug peddlers with the assistance of Police, Excise and Taxation and Customs departments.
Ijaz Shah stated that the elements involved in the business of narcotics did not deserve any leniency and added that they will be brought under the net of the law in collaboration with the Punjab government.
He urged every citizen to play its role to contain the drug sales as drug sellers are playing with the future of a generation.
