Shah Khawar assumes charge of interim PCB chairman

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Election Commissioner, Shah Khawar in addition to his existing responsibilities has assumed the post of PCB acting chief to fill the void of former chairman Zaka Ashraf, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Designated PCB Chairman caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi will currently serve as Member Governing Board.
The Election Commissioner Shah Khawar became the Acting Chairman after the formation of the PCB Board of Governors.
Now, he will conduct board elections and will be overseeing the transition period until a new governing body is appointed.
Member governing board Mohsin Naqvi will contest for Chairman.
Mohsin Naqvi will be elected as the new chairman for a period of three years.
Shah Khawar will announce the schedule for the election of PCB Chairman.
The Inter-Provincial Ministry has given him the responsibility of organizing PCB elections by February.
Zaka Ashraf resigned from the position on Friday. He announced his decision after the fourth meeting of the committee at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
Ashraf has replaced Najam Sethi as chairman of the management committee in July 2023. The government granted Ashraf form a board of governors and organize an election of a PCB chairman but he failed which led to his resignation from the post.
