8 dead as clashes between Kurram tribes enter 3rd day

A trade of fire between two tribes, Peewar and Gaido on the issue of cutting wood from the forest area of District Kurram situated on the Pak-Afghan border has been going on for the third consecutive day on Sunday which has so far claimed the lives of 8 people and injured more than 15 others, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to police sources, two tribes Peewar and Gaido got involved in a clash over the cutting of wood from the forest area of district Kurram and they started trading fire on each other on Saturday morning. 

Members of both the tribes are using light and heavy weapons against each other. They are also targeting locals living in the area. 

Police informed that so far 8 people have lost their lives in the clash. 

A large number of policemen and officials of other security forces have reached the place. 

Authorities are trying to secure a ceasefire between the two clashing tribes and also striving to vacate trenches from them.
