Dr Shahid Munir assumes charge as UET vice-chancellor

Newly-appointed Vice-Chancellor of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in Lahore Prof Dr Shahid Munir on Tuesday assumed the charge of his new office, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Upon arrival at the University premises, Dr Shahid Munir was received by ex-Vice Chancellor Dr Nasir Hayat who also presented him a bouquet, while UET registrar, deans, chairman and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.

President of Teaching Staff Association Dr Amjad Hussain, General Secretary Dr Asif Rafiq, Director Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr Tanveer Qasim were also among those who welcomed the newly-appointed vice-chancellor.

On this occasion Dr Shahid Munir said that they have to move forward collectively for progress and prosperity of the University of Engineering and Technology.

He assured them that during his tenure as vice-chancellor he will try his best to meet their expectations.

On Monday, after getting approval from Government of Punjab, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) also notified appointment of Dr Mohammad Ali Shah as Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University for a period of four years, after a passage of two and half years.

According to the notification, Dr Shahid Munir will serve as Vice-Chancellor of University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore and Prof Akif Anwar Chaudhry will perform his duties as Vice-Chancellor of University of Education. They will serve on the same position for four years.

Moreover, Dr Amjad Shuja will serve as Vice-Chancellor of University of Gujrat, Dr Amir Azam is appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Khawaja Fareed University, Dr Inayatullah will perform his duties as Vice-Chancellor of University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, and Dr and Mohammad Zubair was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan.
