Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Shallwani of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) has been appointed as Sindh Local Government Secretary after Roshan Ali Sheikh removed from the post following his arrest by National Accountability Bureau (NAB), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sindh Services and General Administration (S& GA) Department on Tuesday notified that Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has now appointed as Sindh Local Government Secretary replacing Roshan Ali Sheikh.

It is pertinent to note that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday arrested Roshan Ali Sheikh in an illegal land allotment case after Sindh High Court (SHC) rejected his bail plea.

During the hearing, Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha remarked that the LG secretary and nine others were involved in the illegal land allotment and misused their powers as government employees.

The judge refused to further conduct proceedings on the bail petitions filed by the accused, saying that he had already rejected them and directed the authorities to arrest the LG secretary.

Following the orders, a five-member team of the NAB arrived at the court and detained Roshan Sheikh, who avoided the arrest for four hours by not coming out of the courtroom.

The Commissioner Karachi as his last assignment on August 23 along with Additional Inspector General of Police and Rangers inspected the 10th Muharram procession route in Karachi.
