Leaders and workers of the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) Multan chapter on Saturday kept waiting for being arrested under the ongoing “Jail Bharo Tehreek” on the call of party chairman Imran Khan, but the Police had shown no interest in their arrest.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, at least 10 leaders and 200 activists of the party planned to present themselves for arrest today in Multan.
They gathered at Nawan Shehar Chowk under the leadership of PTI South Punjab president Senator Aon Abbas Bappi as per plan, but the police did not come to arrest them. PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s son Zain Qureshi along with party workers reached the Nawanshahr Chowk. Banners and posters were displayed by PTI at Nawan Shahar Chowk, Multan.
Malik Aamir Dogar also arrived at the same location along with their convoy in the afternoon. The party workers also continued to garland each other. Other PTI leaders including Ibrahim Khan, Dr. Akhtar, Wasif Mazhar Ran, Malik Jamshed Abbas Bappi, Ejaz Hussain Janjua, Akram Kunhan, Khalid Javed Waraich, Malik Adnan Dogar, Rao Muhammad Asif, Malik Saqib, Khurram Farid Khakwani had also reached the location for surrendering themselves for arrest, but they remained unlucky as they had to return their homes in frustration instead of prisons.
South Punjab PTI President also gave a 10-minute ultimatum to the police to arrest them but that didn't work either.
The party leaders asked the workers to come again next week for the arrest.
