PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has removed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur from the post of PTI’s KP presidentship, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Imran Khan has now appointed Junaid Akbar as PTI’s KP President.
Speaking to reporters in Rawalpindi, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja confirmed that the KP chief minister was no more the party’s KP chapter president.
Elaborating on it, he said that already so many responsibilities lay on Gandapur’s shoulders as the provincial CM. “Therefore, Junaid has been made the president instead,” he said, adding, “As a matter of fact, it was Gandapur’s desire that Junaid should be his successor.”
Raja informed that the notification for Junaid’s appointment would be issued soon. He also informed that a diehard PTI leader Aliya Hamza Malik would be given an important assignment in Punjab. On another PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat, he said he had nothing to do with the controversy surrounding him. “The party’s founder will decide about his future in the party once he receives his reply to the show-cause notice.”
Quoting Imran Khan, Raja said he had expressed the desire to meet the party’s negotiating team before January 28. “PTI founder has further said that the party will not back down from its demand for the formation of a judicial commission.”
Sources said PTI founder has Salman Akram Raja to focus on reorganization of the party in Punjab. PTI Secretary General has also been directed to hold consultations with party leaders and workers for the reorganization of the party in Punjab.
