Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has laid stress on agricultural uplift, 24NewsHD TV channel reported
Addressing an event in connection with Model Agriculture Farm in Khanewal, he reiterated his resolve to provide the farmers with better storage facilities and processing plants.
“Economic development without agricultural development is out of the question. If the agricultural issue is resolved, everything will be fine,” he said.
Millions of acres will be cultivated in collaboration with the Army, he said, adding that processing plants will be set up in collaboration with Pakistan Army.
A sum of Rs100 billion will be spent on agriculture in the next four months, the chief minister maintained.
A market with modern facilities will be built for the farmers, he said adding that .livestock-related policy will be announced soon.
Earlier, the Punjab CM presided over a meeting at South Punjab Secretariat Multan to mull over flood-related issues and Muharram security steps.
He stressed the need for timely evacuation of people and livestock from flood-prone areas and removal of encashments to avert the danger.
The meeting was told that the water situation in the Indus River is normal. “Arrangements have been completed to deal with urban flooding in Multan.”
The meeting was told that implementation of the security plan is being ensured during Muharram. “Administration, police, and other security agencies are monitoring Muharram processions and assemblies.”
