The whole country observed Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan today to pay rich tribute to the martyrs of the nation who laid their lives while protecting the motherland and its people, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In remembrance of the courageous heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, numerous events featuring Quran Khawani, prayers and rallies were organized throughout the country.

These gatherings served as a platform for the nation to honour the indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication of the martyrs, hailing from Pakistan Army, Rangers, Frontier Corps, Frontier Constabulary, Police, and other law enforcement agencies.

Several commemorative ceremonies were held at the martyrs' memorials to pay tribute to them.

Shehbaz says May 9 violence attack on Pakistan’s identity

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said today the nation is solemnly observing Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan to pay its glowing tributes to our heroes, Ghazis, and martyrs and express its unflinching solidarity with their families.

In a tweet uploaded on Thursday, Shehbaz Sharif said “I don’t see the tragic incidents of May 9 as merely a protest that became violent. The designs of those who planned them were actually very sinister. There was a clear build-up to the shameful incidents, as the whole nation witnessed in utter disbelief and a state of shock how the lust of some people for power made them do what was never done before. By targeting, desecrating and destroying the monuments of Shuhada, and attacking the very symbols of the State, the miscreants attacked the Idea & identity of Pakistan and gave the enemies of the country reasons to celebrate.”

Ceremonies held at GHQ, PAF, Navy Hqrs

A major ceremony was held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday. Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir visited the martyrs' monument, laid floral wreath and offered fateha.

Later, prominent personalities also laid the floral wreath at the martyrs' monument.

These included amongst others the families of martyrs, students, Senior Veterans,  the Inspector General Islamabad police, the Director General Anti-Narcotics Force, the Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi, the commissioners of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, cricketers Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan and Radio Pakistan's Newscaster Ishrat Fatima.

 

Meanwhile, in connection with Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan, separate ceremonies were held at Naval and PAF Headquarters in Islamabad.

At the Naval headquarters, Naval Chief Amjad Khan Niazai laid floral wreath at the martyrs' monument.

At the PAF headquarters, Air Chief Zaheer Ahmad Babar laid floral wreath at the martyrs' monument.

A ceremony was also held at the JS Headquarters Rawalpindi where floral wreaths were laid at the martyrs' monument.\

Nation is proud of valiant martyrs of Pakistan: President, PM

President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Services Chiefs have in their messages on the occasion of Yaum-e-Takreem-e-Shuhada-e-Pakistan have paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Pakistan, who rendered ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty for ensuring integrity, sovereignty and honour of the nation and the motherland. 

The President in his message said the entire nation is proud of its valiant martyrs who displayed the spirit of patriotism and fearlessness in testing times throughout the history.

The Prime Minister in a tweet urged people, including the children, to visit monuments and graves of martyrs and shower flowers on them as a sign of affection and respect. He said we should show to the world that we are the nation that holds its Shuhada in veneration and affection.

According to ISPR, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs, retired services officers and representatives of civil society also paid rich tributes to martyrs of Pakistan.

In their messages, they said the sacrifices of Shuhada are eternal and will continue to inspire future generations of countrymen.

They said these sacrifices will never be forgotten, irrespective of vicious propaganda by the enemies of Pakistan.

CM Naqvi visits police martyrs’ graves

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi visited the Ashraf Marth Police Lines Gujranwala on the eve of Yaume Takreem Shuhada on Thursday and laid floral wreaths at the graves of SSP Ashraf Marth and other martyrs. 

Punjab chief secretary and Punjab inspector general of Police (IGP) accompanied the chief minister to the graves. 

CM Naqvi prayed for the salvation of the souls of martyrs and paid rich tributes to them. 

He said that martyrs were pride of the nation, and giving them respect was obligatory on each and every individual. 

He further said that the bond of respect and veneration between the nation and martyrs and their families would last forever.   

CJCSC, Services Chiefs pay rich tributes to martyrs

On the eve of Yaum-e-Takreem-e-Shuhada-e-Pakistan, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Services Chiefs, retired services officers and representatives of civil society pay rich tributes to shuhada (martyrs) of Pakistan who rendered ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty for ensuring integrity, sovereignty and honour of the nation and motherland.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release, the sacrifices of Shuhada are eternal, will continue to inspire future generations of countrymen and will never be forgotten, irrespective of vicious propaganda by the enemies of Pakistan.

“Today is a day for the entire nation to commemorate and honour each and every Shaheed of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies and the Civil Society who laid their lives for upholding the very purpose and ideals Pakistan stands for.”

“Shuhada e Pakistan are our heroes and a great asset, whose ultimate sacrifices can never be allowed to be demeaned or undermined by anyone. Pakistani nation takes pride and solemnly pledges to remain deeply indebted to them and their proud families. Shuhada were, are and will continue to be our pride, come what may.”

 PAF salutes Rashid Minhas Shaheed

To pay homage to Pakistan’s valiant son and the youngest recipient of Nishan-e-Haider, Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, the Directorate General Public Relations, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has released a short documentary on the occasion of Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan.

According to a PAF news release, on 20th August, 1971 an unforgettable saga of bravery was crafted with his ultimate sacrifice.

On this fateful day, Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, vanquished the iniquitous intentions of his instructor pilot Flight Lieutenant Mati-ur-Rahman, who tried to hijack his training T-33 jet towards India.

Rashid battled to take back the controls of the aircraft and finally preferred to crash the plane before it could cross the border.

The brave son of soil accepted to sacrifice his life but didn’t allow the country’s dignity to be tarnished. In recognition of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas’s supreme sacrifice and indelible courage, the Government of Pakistan awarded him with the highest gallantry award Nishan-e Haider.

He will always be remembered as an icon of bravery and sacrifice and will remain a beacon for our future generations.
