NHA increases toll tax on vehicles on motorways, highways

The government has levied more taxes on the people travelling on motorways and national highways, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The spokesman for the National Highway Authority (NHA) said on Saturday that the toll tax for cars on national highways had been increased from Rs30 to Rs40, for vans from Rs50 to Rs70, and for buses from Rs100 to Rs130.
“Similarly, the tax for cars on the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway had been increased from Rs240 to Rs350 and for buses from Rs790 to Rs1,000,” he informed.
Likewise, the spokesman said, the tax for cars plying on the Lahore-Abdul Hakim motorway (M-3) had been increased from Rs390 to Rs500 and on buses from Rs1,200 to Rs1,600.
He further said that the tax for cars plying on M-4, a section of the motorway connecting Faisalabad to Pindi Bhattian, had jumped from Rs510 to Rs650 and for buses on the same route from Rs1,560 to Rs2,000.
Elaborating further, the spokesman said the tax for cars on the Hakla-Dera Ismael Khan motorway, M-14, had increased from Rs440 to Rs550, and for buses from Rs1,440 to Rs1,900.
He said that the taxes were raised every three years. “These taxes will take effect on July 1, 2024,” he informed.
